"Hydronic Heating System - Where to Find Information About Your System"

Summary: Information on your system is on or around your system if you look.

 

On the furnace:

 

- Outside the furnace.

Shows information plate on typical gas-fired home heating furnace.

 

- Perhaps behind a furnace panel.

Shows where to look for furnace detail labelling.

Shows how to remove typical furnace plate that might have information on the back.

 

Shows furnace information sometimes found on back of furnace panel.

- Water Inlet Valve.

Water pressure linlet control value information.

 

- Pressure relief valve. In the image shown below, the blue ring at the top specifies that the valve opens at 35 pounds per square inch (PSI) of pressure. Your valve will have some sort of marking.

Shows pressure relief value and its release value.

 

- Pump(s). All pumps in your system will have a description plate of some kind.

Shows information to be found on circulator pump.

- Control Unit Manufacturer.

Shows 24VAC furnace control circuit transformer and its ratings.

 

- Zone Control Valve(s). A label on the valve should identify the manufacturer, voltage and current requirements.

 

Shows zone control valves and the manufucaturer.

 

- The Internet. If you are missing information on a specific hydronic heating system component but know manufacturer, chances are the manufacturer or other has an Internet website, which provides details about the component you have installed. Once of the nice things about hydronic heating systems is that components construction, model numbers, etc change very often.
