AT&T Home Security System - "Central Controller Beeps and Alarms"

Summary: the central controller (CC) of the AT&T home security system provides information about the status of the system via its built-in display and also via beeps or tones.

AT&T Security System - Model 8720 Central Controller

 

Background:

The AT&T home security system central controller is not very sophisticated when compared to today's electronic devices but it does have the ability to provide status information on the installed system.

Information is provided via the small, display window and also via tones or beeps emitted.

 

Meaning of CC beeps:

You should have a card like the one shown below, if not save image of below and print for your use.

This card explains how to use the small window on the central controller to review which device is response for some sort of beeping error.

 

AT&T Security System - Alarms or beeps meaning card

 

"Trouble" is usually a low battery in some universal transmitter.

"4 short beeps" when you try to arm the system means that at least one sensor is not secure.

"Not secure" can mean that the case is slightly open on a universal transmitter or keypad.

"Not secure" can mean that there is no alignment between the reed switch and magnet on some door or window.

 

Voice Announcer

Some systems, as an option at time of purchase,  have a voice enunciator which will broadcast serious messages like "Fire, Fire" or  "Security Alarm".
