"Testing the Signal Strength of a Universal Transmitter"

 

 

If you are experiencing "No Check-in's" , the problem could be, a low battery, metal around a universal transmitter or your antenna location or length needs to be changed. To test the signal strength being received by the AT&T Home Security System central controller (CC) from each universal transmitter:

(1) Using a wireless keypad, enter your home's security code and press "OFF".

(2) At CC, press "TEST\DEMO" and while pressing it, press and hold the 3 other buttons on the CC until "C.C." comes up in the CC's status window

(3) Now go to each universal transmitter and press the button on the case. The CC will now check-in the universal transmitter and respond with 3 beeps for good signal strength received, 2 beeps for a moderate signal and 1 means a very poor signal. If the CC reports only 1 beep signal strength for any universal transmitter, of course check the transmitter's battery but your antenna might have to be lengthened or moved.

From my own experiences, changes in and around your home can and do affect the signal from a universal transmitter to the CC and thus while a system could have been stable for years, the introduction of some new object\obstruction could now being affecting the line of signal propagation between a transmitter and the CC.
