“Where Did It Go?”
By Ron Stultz
11 April 1983
Octopus fingers.
Turning
inward.
Feel
it, finger it, again.
What
new shape the heart and mind?
No
longer new,
the
soul is settling down.
A
period of roots and
city
streets for the kids.
No
place else to go really.
Sad
perhaps for the idea
of
what could have been.
whatever
that was supposed to be.
Smiling
more,
smiling
less,
now
it is all plans, schemes.
Attempting
to gather more.
Satisfy
the needs, wants.
More
needs now,
rewards
I call them.
Funny
state of affairs.
The
soul searching of an earlier period,
has
given way to a focus.
To
applying one’s skills,
to
more and
needs
and
wants.
