Vista Home Basic.
Dell Inspiron 1501.
Click on Windows Update causes new Update Manager to be installed but install fails and returns error code 800F081F.
Solution: (1) turn off system restore. Try to do update manager install again. If it fails go directly to Microsoft and direct download update manager.
Turn back on, system restore.
