"Marvin Wood Double Hung Windows - How to Reinstall Windows into Vinyl Track"
By Ron Stultz
Reinstalling windows into vinyl track:
The upper window needs to be installed first.
With the window horizontal to the floor, grasp the window in the middle on both sides and move it to the vinyl track.
Lifting the window at an angle to the wood frame, align the metal slide at the bottom of the window with the channel in the vinyl track that has the sash tube.
Insert the slide of the window into the vinyl track channel.
Now align the slide on the other side of the window with the vinyl track holding the sash tube.
Insert the window slide into the channel and let the window slowly slide down to the sash tube catch.
With the side on both back edges of the window sitting on the sash tube catch (blue piece with metal teeth), move your hands towards the top edge of the window.
Now begin to push the top edge of the window towards the vinyl track.
As the window approaches the vinyl track, look at both edges of the window and that they are more or less in line with the vinyl track.
If one edge of the window seems like it is going to hit the vinyl track more to one side than the other, lift the edge that is lower while continuing to push the window towards and into the vinyl track.
Once the window is aligned correctly with the vinyl track, use one hand to push the vinyl track inward while at the same time, pushing the window edge over top the vinyl track until it snaps into place.
Now go to other side and once again, push window while depressing vinyl track where window going to go over top and eventually slot over the sash tube.
With the window installed in the vinyl track, move it up or down as needed to allow installation of the other window or to lock the windows together.
