"Samsung NP-N145+ - How to Remove the Back Cover"
By Ron Stultz
Summary: small Phillips screws must be removed; the back cover unsnapped from the front cover and then lifted away where bottom fits over the audio and microphone jacks on one side.
Background:
Samsung NP-N145+.
3 years old.
Would not turn on.
Slide switch cover in upper right corner was defective and had to be replaced.
You get access to the motherboard, hard drive, BIOS battery and related by removing the bottom cover.
How to remove the back cover:
Remove power adapter plug from NP-N145.
Remove battery from NP-N145.
Close liquid crystal display (LCD).
Turn NP-N145+ over with front of NP-N145 towards you.
Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove all screws and place in a holding container.
When you are sure all screws have been removed, on the left side, place a small flat blade screw driver between the bottom cover and the top cover. Note here, the small red band around the NP-N145+ is part of the top cover.
The bottom cover is "snapped" to the top cover so gently pull the bottom cover up off the top cover.
When the bottom cover is loose, you need to move it to the left to get it free of the 2 audio jacks on the left side as the bottom cover actually fits around these jacks.
The image below shows how the bottom cover fits over the 2 audio jacks.
The bottom should now lift completely away from the NP-N145+ exposing the motherboard and related.
Note here, that the keyboard is no longer screwed to the motherboard and you need to keep the LCD closed or you might dislodge the keyboard connector from the motherboard connector.
Putting bottom cover back on NP-N145+:
Look over the motherboard and all connectors. All connectors on and tight?? If you removed the motherboard, is it screwed down like it should be??
Start on the left side and get the back cover positioned over the audio jacks on the motherboard.
Move the back cover down and then make sure it fits properly around the universal serial bus (USB) jacks on the right side and when all looks good, "snap" the cover to the top cover.
Replace all Phillips screws.
Note here that most Phillips screws are the same length, but not all. Suggest you try a short screw first and if it does not "catch", remove and then use a longer Phillips.
