"Floods"

Mostly,

I flow inside the banks

that have become

my life.

But now and again,

a flood will come

and sometimes

the banks get moved.

She was a flood.

The greatest flood

in some time.

And when she receded

the flow

was changed in subtle

and not so subtle ways.

I wonder now,

if the banks of my life

will ever be able

to forget her.

Oh, how I hate

and love

floods.
